Approved at the August 16, 2021 ACA SMR GC Business Meeting

Term: 2 months with an option to extend (12 months maximum), scheduled no more than three times a week

Duties/responsibilities:

Accountable to the ACA SMR Group Conscience Business Meeting, the Room Leader:

• Is familiar with the SMR Trusted Servants’ Commitment (the basics)
• Is responsible for reading the meeting script as written when participants are in a breakout room
• Invites people to share on the daily and self-care readings, and times people’s shares if requested
• Lower hands and screen-shares (may be assisted by a room moderator)
• Mutes microphones or turns off the video of participants when necessary

Helpful Qualities:

• Good observational, listening, oral and time-management skills

Best practices:

• Be friendly and welcoming, and gentle if disruptions occur
• Read at a pace that sets a calm tone
• Thank others for performing service, including those who share
• If the comfort rules are not adhered to, the host may restate those rules

Note:

Room Hosts and Room Moderators work together to maintain a safe meeting space. Room Hosts may assist Room Moderators in a variety of ways:

• Room Hosts and Room Moderators have freedom to vary from each position’s identified Duties/Responsibilities, provided that they do so by mutual agreement and always communicate and work together as a team.
• Room Moderators may be trusted servants who have breakout room experience, offering support to those who are new to room hosting.
• Alternately, Room Moderators may be new to performing service, and the Room Host may similarly offer support and suggestions to them.
