Motions 24-4 and 24-5: Make Your Thoughts Known!
From April 26th through May 18th is your opportunity to let the SMR fellowship know how you think and feel about two motions that will come up for online Group Conscience vote in late May, early June.
Motion 24-4: Names and Images Information in the Daily Script
- Comment Period (3 Weeks): 04/26/24 – 05/18/24
- Group Conscience Polling Period (2 Weeks): Late May / Early June
The recently approved Names and Images Guidelines has gone into effect, including the line in the script, “So, together we ask… you uphold the group conscience and Tradition 10 – that your background image, avatar and display name reflect no opinion on outside interests.” The purpose of this motion is to affirm the wording of this new phrase, including commentary about possible changes.
Motion 24-5: Clarification of Contact List Policies

On or before Sunday, March 24th, a SMR member downloaded from our website a copy of the fellowship’s contact list, copying all 800 names and emails, and broadcasting to each member a disparaging personal opinion. With this motion, we request a Town Hall discussion of possible remedies and solutions with regard to an individual’s actions and/or our collective practices that may restore our group’s high level of trust, safety and comfort.
Because we are a large group with diverse attitudes, we are asking you to provide your comments on these motions. Once the commentary period concludes, we’ll take all guidance and the individuals who raised the motions will make any adjustments, then prepare for a Group Conscience poll in late May or early June.
