The purpose of this poll is to take the group conscience on how members of the SMR meeting use on-screen names and images.

Background (or why we are asking for this vote)

Recently, a member of our SMR group requested to be a room host. However, the screen name this person was using was problematic for some members who felt it was a violation of Tradition 10 by bringing in outside issues. Without a clear group conscience on what the SMR community feels is appropriate, issues such as this one create disharmony and confusion. Our choices seem to be either create a policy that states as clearly as possible our guidelines for using names and images online or to call a group conscience for each issue when it arises. The policy below is intended to gain a clear understanding of our fellowship’s wishes with regard to a names and images policy.

The Suggested Policy on Names and Images

We intend to have the next policy on personal safety practices referenced in the names and images policy but it has not yet been developed. Personal safety practices will be the first step in resolving most safety concerns that arise.

The Names and Images policy has been through two town halls and three rewrites. Here is the most recent policy and the link to the minutes of the most recent town hall. Policies that are accepted are listed on the acamorning.org website and will be reviewed periodically to make sure they work and are still the wishes of the meeting.

Please vote only once. Make sure you’ve read the minutes and comments on previous drafts to see how this policy was developed.

Voting more than once will invalidate your votes.

Here is a link to the policy we are proposing.
