Getting Along: How to Work with Anyone (Even Difficult People) by Amy Gallo

This book offers research-based strategies for getting along with people at work, calling it “interpersonal resilience”. While I don’t like labeling anyone as “difficult”, I’ve found that the practical advice in this book is helpful in navigating my feelings of fear of authority figures at work. It’s also helping me be more compassionate and understanding of colleagues with whom I sometimes struggle to regulate my emotions. One of the things I’ve developed a lot through ACA is putting up boundaries and leaving harmful, stressful relationships behind. However, I’ve found it’s a bit tricky at work when I want to stay in my current job and collaborate with others without sacrificing my own integrity or ACA principles. I feel like sometimes I need some strategies to keep my Inner Family protected, and managing challenging relationships is a part of that for me.
